Once again, Kyle Busch, Sprint Cup series driver of the number 18 M&M’s Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing, has infuriated me again. And that does not take much. When it comes to me and Kyle Busch, I know where I stand. I also know that my opinion may not be of your opinion, but we live in a nation where Freedom of Speech is protected by the First Amendment of the United States. I take this time now to enact my right to speak.
Anybody that knows me personally, knows that I am a diehard NASCAR fan and I am a major fan of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. I was a major fan of his late father. I did not have to become a Dale Jr. fan. I did not begin to follow him just because his last name is “Earnhardt” and that I was and still am a fan of his father. I was a fan of his before his father was tragically killed in 2001. I have been a fan of his since he began his racing career. I could have started cheering for Carl Edwards or Tony Stewart, but I didn’t. I followed Dale Jr. because he is a genuine race car driver. He had to work and earn his spot where he is today. He was not just handed it because of his famous last name. He earned his spot in racing history like his father did.
But yesterday, Friday, May 29, 2009, was a day that Kyle Busch could not keep his mouth shut. A reporter asked him what he thought of Dale Jr. losing his crew chief, Tony Eury, Jr. and his comments were something left to be desired. His comments show just how immature he is mentally. Physically, he may be able to drive and race a car, but mentally, his brain never thinks before he opens his big mouth. Yes, Rick Hendrick, owner of the number 88 Impala SS driven by Dale Jr., announced that Tony Eury, Jr. would not any longer be the crew chief for Dale Jr. In the slumping year so far that Dale Jr. has had, it was only a matter of time for that to happen. It did not mean that Kyle Busch had to take a jab at Dale Jr.
When Kyle Busch said, “It’s never Jr., it’s always the crew chief,” shows just how bitter he is still that he lost his ride at Rick Hendrick Racing to Dale Jr. Busch is letting his jealousy run him. No, let me rephrase that. He is letting it “ruin” him. He just does not realize that it is. The bitterness and resentment he still has shows through his arrogance and he obviously does not care what his attitude is like. Taking jabs at a fellow driver is no way to condone the actions of others. Let alone his.
Dale Jr. is trying to make a living doing the same thing Busch does. Busch does not have to compare himself to someone he never will be. I know he thinks he drives more like Dale Earnhardt Sr., but there was one thing that “The Intimidator” had that Busch never will have. That is charisma. I bet Kyle Busch does not even know what that word means. There is no comparison between him and Dale Jr. when it comes to that. Yes, Dale Jr. has his own driving style and in a lot of ways, he does not drive like his daddy. I never expected him too. But, in a lot of ways, Dale Jr. does drive like his daddy and act like his daddy. Any true fan can see that. Put Dale Jr. beside his father, and you will see how much charisma shows through. Put Kyle Busch beside Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and only one thing is evident. The boy has none. The Intimidator would put him to shame. Hell, he already does.
Kyle Busch, while it pains me to even say this, he can drive a race car, but he goes about it in the wrong way. He has to realize that he cannot go out on the track thinking that he has the winning car all the time and try to prove it by running over other guys. I know all the competitors think they have the winning car, but many of them do not drive like a bat out of hell to prove it. And lord forbid, Kyle Busch does not win a race. If he does not win, he acts like a spoiled brat and goes running and hides because he is a sore loser. He has to realize that he cannot win all the damn time.
But personal jabs at competitors is not going to accomplish anything. The built up resentment and jealousy Kyle Busch has over Dale Jr. is not only humiliating, but downright nonsense. It’s time for him to become a man. He needs to finally grow a set of balls and learn exactly for which they are used. Just because he has a pair in all reality, does not mean they have “matured” yet. That is evident on the race track after a race because he goes running because he did not win the race. A man with balls would not go running. A man with balls will take the humiliation and even admit when he is wrong and take it like a gentleman. By Kyle Busch acting like he does, just goes to show that his balls are still stuck in his inguinal canal and have not descended yet. No wonder he does not know how to use them.
